Public Security Chief and National Committee for Civil Emergency Management chairman Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan yesterday said Bahrain’s selection to chair the Arab Co-ordination Mechanism for Disaster Risk Reduction and to serve as Vice Chair of the Arab Technical Committee for Marine Disaster Reduction represents a significant achievement for the kingdom.
He said the decision reflects Bahrain’s leading role in the Arab civil protection system and its contribution to joint efforts in disaster risk reduction.
He highlighted the support of Interior Minister and Civil Defence Council chairman General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, whose directives have strengthened the national emergency system and advanced readiness, co-ordination and institutional development in civil protection.
Lt Gen Al Hassan said the achievement aligns with the National Emergency Strategy, which prioritises regional and international co-operation in incident and disaster response, as well as the enhancement of national preparedness and mechanisms for collaboration and knowledge exchange with specialised organisations.
“These efforts contribute to protecting lives and property and supporting security and stability.”
