MMA – Bahrain have come away with four medals so far in the 2025 International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) Asian Championships, currently being held Jounieh, Lebanon.
Rashed Alsaleh has captured a silver medal while Abdulla Hussain, Mohammad Abubaqr, and Jassim Abubaqr have each claimed bronze medals – all in their respective youth men’s weight categories.
Rashed won his silver in the youth men’s C 44kg class after losing in the final by unanimous decision to Adam Al Lakiss from Lebanon.
Earlier in the preliminary round, Rashed defeated Danis Juraev from Tajikistan by unanimous decision to secure his berth in the gold medal contest.
Danis and Lebanon’s Jad Ahmad claimed a share of the bronze medals.
Abdulla secured his bronze for Bahrain in the youth men’s B 44kg division.
He lost his three matches against Abdulrahman Harb from Lebanon and against Abdullo Sharipzoda and Miramin Nabiev, both from Tajikistan, but did enough to secure a share of third place with Abdulrahman.
Abdullo won gold while Miramin took silver.
Mohammad won his bronze in the youth men’s C 37kg class. He lost his two fights against Kamel Ibrahim of Lebanon and Ibrokhim Sharipov from Tajikistan but claimed his podium place in third.
Kamel was the gold-medallist and Ibrokhim the silver medal winner.
Jassim won his bronze in the youth men’s D 37kg category, where he shared his podium step with Lebanon’s Antoine Khalil.
Jassim lost his three contests against Numonjon Rahimov from Uzbekistan, Charbel Whaibe from Lebanon, and Antoine, but still made it onto the podium.
Charbel took gold while Numonjon won the silver medal.
Bahrain have a total of 15 fighters registered in the IMMAF championship, several of whom are in action in the coming days.
Also aiming for gold in their respective divisions are Saoud Ebrahim in the youth A strawweight 52.2kg, Yousuf Mercer and Aseel Almutawa in the youth A flyweight 56.7kg, Abdulla Qahtan in the youth A featherweight 65.8kg, Shawqi Alsada in the youth B 52kg, Abdulla Ismaeel in the juniors strawweight 52.2kg, and Arsen Suleimanov in the juniors light heavyweight 93kg.
The kingdom’s delegation is spearheaded by Magomed Sheikhov in the senior men’s flyweight 56.7kg class, Khaiam Khudoiberdiev in the senior men’s lightweight 70.3kg, Gimbat Magomedov in the senior men’s super welterweight 79.4kg, Gadzhi Gadzhiev in the senior men’s super middleweight 88.4kg, and Isaev Abdula in the senior men’s light heavyweight 93kg category.
