MOTORSPORT – The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) recognised the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF) with a prestigious honour during the annual FIA President’s Awards held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The kingdom’s governing body was celebrated for bringing change and driving societal transformation in the field of communication, empowering youth through motorsport.
The recognition comes as part of the nominations for the FIA’s Community Engagement Award and the FIA President’s National Motorsport Achievement Award, as the BMF’s project was the first of its kind in the Middle East.
The BMF participated with a dedicated pavilion at Youth City 2030 last August, which formed an educational and awareness platform aimed at introducing young participants to safe driving skills and precautionary measures in motorsports.
It also gave young people the opportunity to learn about the various disciplines related to this sport, promoting traffic culture, spreading awareness of public safety concepts, and encouraging young people to engage in responsible sporting activities within a safe and stimulating environment.
Their participation stemmed from the BMF’s belief in the importance of supporting national initiatives targeting youth, and providing an educational and interactive environment that enables them to hone their skills and discover their future interests in various fields of motor racing – whether technical, artistic, or medical.
The young participants were presented with a number of interactive workshops and demonstrations that highlighted the different aspects of motorsport in the kingdom.
The certificate of appreciation was received by BMF general manager Abdulaziz Al Thawadi, who in turn expressed his pride and honour of the BMF in this recognition.
He noted that it confirms the prestigious position that the BMF has reached and its high status in various fields, which are in line with the visions and aspirations of the FIA, which in turn enhances Bahrain’s position in international motorsport.
