BOXING – RENOWNED Irish boxing coach John Conlan has been signed by the Bahrain Boxing Federation (BBF) as the national team’s new head tactician and the BBF’s high-performance development director.
This was announced by the BBF in a strategic move aimed at elevating the technical and professional levels of Bahrain’s boxers.
BBF president Rashid Feleyfel confirmed Conlan’s appointment in a contract signing ceremony. Feleyfel expressed his confidence in Conlan’s ability to provide world-class training that aligns with the BBF’s vision for the future of Bahraini boxing, as they aim to build a competitive generation capable of achieving quality results and lift the name of the kingdom at the highest levels of the sport.
Feleyfel added that the BBF’s goals are greatly supported by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president, along with the follow-up and attention given by GSA deputy chairman and Bahrain Combat Sports Council president Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
Feleyfel said that the BBF will in the next phase see a quality shift in technical preparation and physical rehabilitation programmes, alongside working on honing promising talent, reflecting the ambitions of Bahraini boxing and strengthening its presence and place on the world boxing map.
