FOOTBALL – HUSSAIN Abdulkarim scored in the 64th minute as Muharraq held off Budaiya 1-0 at the Shaikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium in the eighth round of the Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Football Premier League yesterday.
Meanwhile, in another eighth-round match yesterday, Al Khaldiya saw off Hidd 2-1. After a scoreless first half, Joel Beya scored from the penalty spot to put Al Khaldiya ahead in the 51st minute. Saifeddine Bouhra extended the lead for Al Khaldiya in the 65th minute through another penalty shot.
Hidd’s Oussama Belatreche netted a goal during additional time to reduce the margin.
The eighth-round matches continue today with two games. In the first encounter, Bahrain Club take on Al Shabab at 4.15pm while Riffa play Al Ahli later in the evening, at 7pm.
