It has been ages since I last visited The Lagoon in Amwaj Islands, but it seemed like the perfect spot for a family lunch outing. We were particularly drawn by the craving for some famous Portuguese chicken located in one of the outlets.
Logistics were a breeze; finding parking was effortless thanks to the staggering 1,500 parking spaces in their covered car parking area. This was a huge relief, especially since it was raining outside!
Once we arrived, we bundled our little one into her stroller and were immediately struck by the waterfront oasis, which offers a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces. After our delicious meal, we took a leisurely stroll along the 2km waterfront walkway. Our little one particularly enjoyed seeing the droplets dance on the lagoon water amidst the soft rain.
There are plenty of seating areas scattered around the loop, which are perfect for taking a breather and soaking in the view. Even with the weather, we noticed quite a few people enjoying a stroll and kids zipping around on scooters along the pathway.
The Lagoon truly has something for everyone. From indulging in a spa treatment or enjoying a coffee with a view, to watching the kids play in the water splash park, it’s hard to have a dull moment, although the atmosphere is noticeably less vibrant than it was in its heyday. Nevertheless, with its expansive 55,000 square metres of characterful architecture, it is certainly worth a visit.
