Strong winds are expected to continue today, with speeds reaching up to 25 knots at times before easing to around seven knots later in the day.
From tomorrow through Monday, winds are forecast to remain light, ranging between five and 15 knots, though gusts may reach up to 20 knots on Sunday.
In terms of temperatures, Saturday afternoon is set to be the warmest period, with highs of around 29C. The coolest temperatures are expected tomorrow, when the mercury may drop to as low as 13C.
Bahrain experiences unsettled weather
Bahrain experienced unsettled weather conditions yesterday with strong northwesterly winds stirring up sand and dust across several areas.
According to the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry’s Meteorological Directorate, wind speeds ranged between 12 knots and 35 knots at times.
The winds started at around 3am and persisted for almost 15 hours until around 6pm.
The highest gust – 39 knots – was recorded at the King Fahad Causeway. Wind speeds of 36 knots were registered at both Bahrain International Airport and the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club. Sitra recorded gusts reaching 35 knots, while the University of Bahrain and Durrat Al Bahrain each reported wind speeds of 34 knots.
The highest temperature recorded yesterday was 26C in the afternoon, before conditions gradually cooled, reaching a low of 16C in the evening.
Humidity levels fluctuated throughout the day, dropping to a minimum of 35 per cent but rising at times to 75 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Coastguard urged seafarers to exercise caution due to the strong winds and what authorities described as rough sea conditions. Officials advised mariners to take all necessary precautions and ensure their vessels are properly prepared before setting sail.
