Ambassadors of the GCC states and Jordan, under the chairmanship of Bahrain’s Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, met deputy secretary-general for bilateral affairs at the Malaysian ministry of foreign affairs Ahmad Rozian bin Abdul Ghani to discuss developments related to the Iranian attacks.
The ambassador expressed appreciation to the Malaysian side for the existing bilateral co-operation and co-ordination, noting that this engagement comes as Bahrain currently holds the presidency of the GCC and its presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the month of April.
Dr Al Manea commended Malaysia’s support for United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, submitted by Bahrain, which condemned the Iranian attacks on the GCC states and Jordan. He conveyed the appreciation of the participating states for Malaysia’s position, particularly its support for the resolution adopted on March 11, which reflected an international consensus of 136 countries in condemning the attacks and protecting regional stability.
He also referred to the draft resolution submitted by Bahrain to the United Nations Human Rights Council on March 25, which addressed the humanitarian consequences of the war waged by Iran against the GCC states and Jordan.
