The National programme for Preparing Young Leaders, "Qiyadi" (Leader) commenced today.
Organised by the Governorate of Muscat in collaboration with the Young Leaders Preparation centre, the programme is part of ongoing efforts to develop the skills of the youth, refine their leadership and creative abilities, and prepare a conscious generation capable of making active contributions to community service.
The Governorate of Muscat is the second stop for the implementation of the programme within the Sultanate of Oman. It aims to develop leadership and responsibility skills among young people and instill the values of cooperation, teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence.
Furthermore, it seeks to enhance creative thinking, decision-making, dialogue, and communication skills, while fostering self-initiative among the participants.
The three-day programme targets the 11 to 14 age group, with the participation of over 60 male and female students. Forty of these students were nominated by the Directorate General of Education in the Governorate of Muscat, while 20 spots were made available through public registration.
Additionally, a specific number of seats were allocated for the children of the governorate's employees.
The programme features various training and practical tracks, covering planning and organising, teamwork, motivation and encouragement, as well as creativity and innovation.
It also focuses on dialogue and problem-solving skills through practical workshops and interactive activities designed to build a well-rounded leadership personality in the participants.
The Governorate of Muscat anticipates that the programme will yield a positive impact on the local community by identifying promising potential at an early age and steering it toward positive pathways that foster a spirit of initiative, belonging, and social responsibility.
The outcomes of the programme will extend into advanced stages, as six participants will be qualified and selected to represent the governorate in the general programme across the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
Subsequently, only 11 participants nationwide will be selected to represent Oman in regional and international competitions and forums.
This reflects the impact the programme aims to achieve in discovering and honing emerging leaders.
The organisation of this programme is in harmony with the societal and developmental roles undertaken by the Governorate of Muscat and the offices of the Walis across the governorate's various wilayats.
This is achieved by supporting purposeful initiatives that invest in human capital and contribute to building the capacities of future generations.
