As part of ongoing efforts to protect marine resources, the Interior Ministry announced that the Coast Guard seized 492 illegal marine fish traps, known as Gargoor, and 60 illegal fishing nets during May and June 2026, bringing the total number of seized illegal fishing tools to 552.
The Coast Guard affirmed that the necessary legal procedures were taken regarding these violations as part of its intensified inspection campaign to ensure fishermen’s compliance with the laws and regulations in force and to preserve the marine environment and natural resources of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
It stressed the importance of all fishermen adhering to the laws and regulations governing fishing activities, thereby helping protect marine resources and ensuring their sustainability for future generations.
