JIU-JITSU – BAHRAIN’S Abdulla Al Maskati bagged the gold medal in the boys’ gi 50kg white belt category at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour 2025-26 event, held in the UAE capital.
Abdulla, representing Elements JJ Bahrain, secured his title with a submission victory against Emirati Khalfan Alhammadi, fighting out of Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club.
The talented 14-year-old had earlier secured his place in the division’s final with a win in the last four against Egyptian Mahmoud Elzoffer, competing for Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club, also by submission.
Abdulla and Khalfan were later joined by Mahmoud on the podium. Mahmoud secured third after beating French participant Yahya Chehade from Gracie Barra Dubai by suabmission in the bronze medal contest.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour 2025-26 meeting featured around 2,000 athletes, both boys and girls, from around the world. Action was held in various age groups, including infants, teens, youth, and juniors – both gi and no gi classes.
Abdulla was the lone Bahraini fighter to come away with a medal.
