Supreme Council for Women (SCW) secretary general Lulwa Al Awadhi met EBDAA Bahrain Microfinance CEO Badr El Din Ibrahim to discuss enhancing support for Bahraini women entrepreneurs through concessional financing programmes.
Ms Al Awadhi highlighted the council’s commitment to monitoring the impact of the portfolio of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and SCW president, for supporting women’s commercial activity to ensure the sustainability and growth of women-led businesses.
During the meeting, EBDAA representatives reviewed the portfolio’s latest results, noting that it has provided 10,568 financing facilities worth more than BD12.5 million since its launch in 2010, with the fund recycled more than 12 times.
The meeting also reviewed success stories of Bahraini women who expanded home-based ventures into successful businesses through accessible financing, underlining the role of such programmes in supporting women’s economic empowerment and strengthening the contribution of small enterprises to the national economy.
Both sides affirmed their commitment to continuing co-operation in line with the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women.
