Families across Bahrain can start planning for the new school year after the Education Ministry announced that classes will begin on September 3, with the academic year running until June 30, 2027.
According to the calendar released by the ministry on its website (https://moe.gov.bh/en/academic-calendar), government school teachers and administrative staff will return from their summer break on September 1, with a two-day orientation period.
Students will return to classrooms on September 3, with the first term continuing until January 14, 2027. First-term examinations will be held from December 21 to January 12. Mid-term holidays will run from January 17 to 28.
The second term will then begin on January 31 and continue until June 30, with final examinations scheduled from May 3 to 27.
Summer holidays next year will start on July 1 and run until September 2.
Registration for the Education Ministry’s Summer Camp will take place from June 27 to July 1, 2027.
Last year’s activities were held in 10 summer centres across the four governorates – five each for boys and girls – and included science, culture, sports, arts, scouts and recreation programmes.
The initiative targets students aged nine to 15, with activities expected to run daily from 9am to noon.
Meanwhile, registration for new students for the 2027-2028 academic year will be open from October 18 to 31 this year. Parents are urged to complete all procedures within the specified dates.
Parents seeking to transfer students between private and public schools for this academic year must complete all requirements between July 4 and 15.
Ramadan is expected to begin around February 8 and continue for approximately 30 days, depending on moon sighting, until around March 8. During this period, reduced school hours are expected.
Parents are also encouraged to keep track of these dates to avoid missing key deadlines related to their children’s education.
