I was deeply upset and heartbroken after reading about the recent incident in which a person allegedly abused a cat by throwing it at a parked car. The fact that a video of this act was circulated online and caused outrage among the public shows that many people in Bahrain care about animals and believe they deserve kindness and protection.
As someone who loves animals, I cannot understand how anyone could intentionally hurt a helpless creature. Cats, like all animals, can feel fear, pain and suffering. They depend on humans to treat them with compassion. Seeing such cruelty makes me feel angry and sad because innocent animals cannot defend themselves or speak up when they are harmed.
Animal abuse is not something that should ever be ignored. Studies around the world have shown that people who are cruel to animals may also become violent towards other living beings. This is why authorities should take reports of animal cruelty seriously and ensure that those responsible are held accountable according to the law. Strong action would send a clear message that such behaviour has no place in our society.
However, punishment alone is not enough. We must also work to prevent these incidents from happening in the first place. Schools can educate students about animal welfare and teach the importance of empathy and respect for all living creatures. Social media campaigns can raise awareness about responsible treatment of animals and encourage people to report abuse when they see it. Communities can also support local animal welfare groups that rescue and care for injured or abandoned animals.
Bahrain is known for its values of kindness, respect, and compassion. We should extend these values to animals as well. Every living creature deserves to be treated with dignity and care. I hope this incident encourages greater awareness and stronger efforts to protect animals from cruelty in the future.
