I am a resident of Bahrain and would like to propose an innovative public service project that can improve driver comfort, vehicle cleanliness, and overall road experience during the country’s hot summer months.
This idea was inspired by my personal experience. During summer, vehicles parked or driven for long periods become extremely hot due to Bahrain’s high temperatures.
Dust and sand also accumulate quickly on vehicle surfaces, making driving less comfortable and increasing the need for frequent cleaning.
I propose the installation of automatic roadside cooling and car wash stations at selected locations throughout Bahrain.
The system would allow vehicles to slowly pass through a simple overhead spray structure that provides a quick wash and cooling service without requiring drivers to leave their vehicles.
A small service fee of 500 fils per vehicle could be charged for each use.
This initiative, if implemented, will reduce vehicle surface temperatures during extreme heat, and remove dust and sand from vehicles quickly and conveniently.
It will also improve driver and passenger comfort, provide an affordable and accessible public service while also generating revenue to support maintenance and future expansion.
Benefits for citizens
- Cleaner vehicles.
- More comfortable driving experience.
- Quick and affordable service.
- Convenient access on major roads and highways.
Benefits for the government
- New source of public revenue.
- Enhancement of Bahrain’s smart-city initiatives.
- Improved public satisfaction.
- Creation of maintenance and operational job opportunities.
Environmental benefits
- Use of recycled and filtered water systems.
- Reduced water wastage through efficient spray technology.
- Potential integration with solar-powered pumping systems.
Implementation Plan
- Phase 1 – Pilot Project
Instal a limited number of stations at strategic locations such as Manama, Muharraq, Seef District and major highways and high-traffic roads.
- Phase 2 – Evaluation
Monitor daily usage rates, public feedback, water consumption and operational costs and revenue.
- Phase 3 – Expansion
Expand successful stations to petrol stations, shopping mall parking areas, government facilities and additional highways across Bahrain.
Revenue potential
If 1,000 vehicles use the service each day at 500 fils per wash, daily revenue would be BD500.
Monthly revenue would be approximately BD15,000.
This revenue can contribute to operating and maintenance expenses while supporting future expansion.
As a resident who personally experiences the challenges of Bahrain’s extreme summer temperatures, I believe this project can provide a practical, affordable and innovative solution for thousands of drivers.
I respectfully request the government of Bahrain to consider implementing a pilot project and evaluating its benefits for the public.
