A gathering to honour a delegation who participated in an international humanitarian initiative, providing medical care and surgical treatment to children from Gaza in Jordan, was recently held by the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS).
The mission, carried out in co-ordination with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) – Medical University of Bahrain, come as part of efforts to ease the suffering of children affected by the severe conditions suffered by Palestinians and provide them with urgent treatment.
Held in the presence of BRCS Chairman Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the gathering was attended by Secretary General Mubarak Al Hadi.
King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH) commander Colonel Dr Salman Mohammed Al Khalifa, the hospital’s head of the Department of Surgery and Chief of Staff Professor Martin Corbally, and RCSI lecturer in nursing Dr Khadija Matrook also attended.
Lt Gen Dr Shaikh Mohammed commended the dedication of the medical team involved in treating the children, and noted that the initiative has made a tangible difference by providing essential care, saving lives and restoring hope for young patients and their families.
“Bahrain continues to uphold its longstanding humanitarian approach by extending assistance to people and communities affected by crises around the world,” he said. “The humanitarian and healthcare needs of the people of Gaza remain a key priority within the society’s international relief efforts.”
