Leading local, regional and international experts will discuss the latest advances in diabetes and obesity management, prevention strategies and the promotion of healthy lifestyles at a conference to be held later this year.
Bahrain will host the second Bahrain Diabetes and Obesity Conference (BDOC) on October 1 and 2, under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority president and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
It is being organised in co-operation with Education Plus.
In preparation for the event, the Bahrain Diabetes Society and Education Plus signed an agreement to organise the conference.
The agreement was signed by Supreme Council for Health chairman and Bahrain Diabetes Society chairman Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and Education Plus general manager Dr Amin Abdulla.
Lt Gen Dr Shaikh Mohammed said the conference reflects Bahrain’s commitment to tackling non-communicable diseases through scientific collaboration, awareness initiatives and partnerships across the health and academic sectors.
He added that the event would support efforts to promote healthier lifestyles and strengthen preventive healthcare, particularly among young people.
Dr Amin said the success of the inaugural conference had laid the foundation for a stronger second edition, featuring enhanced scientific content and broader local, regional and international participation.
