ATHLETICS – Bahrain's junior and youth athletics national teams received a hero’s welcome upon their return to the kingdom from Ismailia, Egypt, where they bagged an incredible 17 medals from the third Arab Under-23 and first Arab Under-16 Athletics Championships.
The nationals were received upon reaching Bahrain International Airport by Bahrain Olympic Committee sports associations director Hesham Al Beloshi.
Accompanying the kingdom’s rising young track and field stars were a team of officials, including Bahrain’s legendary sprinter Ruqaya Al Ghasra. Bahrain came away with 13 medals from the under-23 competition, including five gold, seven silver, and one bronze; and captured another four medals in the under-16 event, including a gold and silver apiece, to go along with two bronze medals.
