Nine children drowned and two others were injured after a three-wheeled cargo vehicle crashed into a canal in Egypt yesterday.
The incident occurred in the Nag Hammadi Canal in Abu Tig when the vehicle, carrying children and workers, lost control and overturned, plunging into the water.
The victims were between the ages of 10 and 17 and were reportedly working in agricultural fields at the time.
A rescue team was dispatched to the scene and managed to recover the bodies after searching the canal.
Authorities have opened an investigation to determine whether negligence or criminal liability played a role in the incident.
