After a months-long search for an Indian resident who mysteriously disappeared, Kuwaiti authorities have uncovered his body buried in the Al Salmi desert.
The expat vanished on March 19 after travelling to the desert with a suspect, the owner of heavy machinery, to carry out maintenance work. He never returned, and all contact with him was lost.
A missing person investigation was launched but quickly took a dramatic turn when investigators reviewed traffic footage to track the victim's final movements. They noticed he did not return in the vehicle he had left in with the suspect.
Investigators subsequently arrested the suspect's son and questioned him, confronting him with the evidence. He confessed that the expat worker had been fatally crushed by a crane during maintenance work.
Instead of reporting the incident, the suspect and his son secretly transported the victim's body and buried it in the desert, attempting to erase all evidence to avert legal consequences.
Following the confession, authorities located the site where the victim was buried and detained the son. The father remains on the run and is believed to have fled Kuwait.
Efforts continue to locate and arrest the second suspect.
