HANDBALL – The 11th Asian Men’s Youth Handball Championship has been relocated to Amman, Jordan, following unforeseen organisational circumstances which made it impossible to stage the championship in Andijan, Uzbekistan as originally scheduled, the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) has announced.
The under-19 championship will now be held from August 20 to 31 at the Jordanian capital, with Bahrain being one of the 11 competing nations making up the current field.
The tournament will also serve as the Asian qualification tournament for the 12th IHF Men’s Youth Handball World Championship, with the top four teams earning their spots in the worlds, scheduled for July 29 to August 9 next year.
Bahrain’s youth men’s squad have been drawn in Group B for the preliminary round alongside defending champions Japan, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, and Hong Kong.
Group A features Saudi, Iran, Chinese Taipei, China, and Uzbekistan.
