An initiative has been launched to promote responsible consumer behaviour and raise awareness among youth about their consumer rights and responsibilities.
The Industry and Commerce Ministry unveiled it in co-ordination with the Youth Affairs Ministry and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen).
The ‘Smart Shopping’ platform, developed in co-operation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido), was revealed at Youth City 2030, being held at Exhibition World Bahrain.
It features interactive activities, competitions and practical experiences designed to help participants understand their rights as consumers, compare products and services, read commercial information, and identify genuine as well as misleading offers.
Consumer Protection director Entisar Abdulaal said that the ministry’s participation in the event reflects its commitment to equipping youth with the knowledge and practical skills needed to make informed purchasing decisions and embrace sustainable consumption.
“The initiative encourages young people to actively contribute to national initiatives while strengthening their sense of responsibility and supporting sustainable development,” said Ms Abdulaal.
“The ministry’s participation in Youth City 2030 forms part of its ongoing awareness programmes aimed at promoting consumer protection, responsible consumption, and a more informed and sustainable society.”
