VOLLEYBALL – BAHRAIN is set to host the second edition of the Arab Men’s U17 Volleyball Championship next month, the Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) announced yesterday.
The competition will feature eight youth men’s national teams from across the region, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Algeria, Palestine, Kuwait, Libya, and hosts Bahrain.
It will take place from August 9 to 17 at Isa bin Rashid Volleyball Arena, located at Isa Sports City in Riffa. The official draw is scheduled for July 26, to be held remotely.
In preparation for the event, the tournament’s executive committee held its first coordination meeting, chaired by BVA secretary general Feras Al Helwachi, who is also the Arab Volleyball Association (AVA) secretary general.
During the meeting, the competition’s working committees were approved. They included Abdulredha Ashouri for the accommodation committee, Rashid Jaber of the referees committee, Hassan Al Farsani for the finance committee, Zahra Thamer for the secretariat committee, Hassan Ali for the media committee, Ali Makki for the stadiums committee, and Mahdi Al Jamri for the transportation committee.
Also during the gathering, Al Helwachi conveyed the greetings of BVA president and AVA chief Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa. Al Helwachi thanked those in attendance for accepting their roles on the executive committee and expressed his appreciation for everyone’s understanding regarding the reduction in the number of committees, in light of the current challenges.
