VOLLEYBALL – Bahrain have stepped up their preparations for the second edition of the Arab Youth Volleyball Championship, to be hosted by the kingdom next week.
The youth men’s volleyball national team are one of six squads participating in the under-17 tournament, organised by the Bahrain Volleyball Association in co-ordination with the Arab Volleyball Association.
It is scheduled to get underway next Sunday and continue until August 16.
Three games will be held on each of the five match days at Isa Bin Rashid Volleyball Arena at Isa Sports City in Riffa.
The Bahrainis have intensified their preparations with training under the supervision of head coach Yusuf Khalifa.
They competed last month in the AVC Boys’ U18 Volleyball Championship 2026 in Haikou, China, where they finished 12th overall amongst the 16 participating national teams from across the continent.
The team enter their home competition having won the silver medals from the inaugural edition of the Arab youth event, held in Amman, Jordan in 2024.
Saudi Arabia captured the gold medals and will be looking to defend their crown, while Libya came away with bronze but are not participating this year.
The other teams in the fray are Kuwait, Jordan, Algeria and Egypt.
