The General Sports Authority (GSA) has launched a summer sports programme for kids under the Golden Community Initiative, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, and the kingdom’s governorates.
This is following the directives of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, GSA chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The programme will run until August 18 at nine centres in various sports clubs across the kingdom, with morning and evening sessions.
It aims to promote various sports, encourage sport as a way of life, and provide children and youth with sports and awareness activities during the summer holidays with the aim of developing their physical and sporting skills and promoting positive values.
Parents of the participants commended the programme’s organisation and the integrated sporting environment provided for their children.
They expressed appreciation to the GSA for launching the initiative, noting that it enables the youngsters to make productive use of their summer break through purposeful activities that develop their abilities, enhance their self-confidence, and reinforce the values of discipline, commitment, and teamwork.
The summer sports programme reflects the commitment of the GSA, in partnership with the Interior Ministry, the Health Ministry, and the governorates, to launch initiatives that promote community sport and provide a safe and attractive sporting environment for children and youth.
