BASKETBALL – THE second edition of the Bahrain 3x3 Basketball League for the kingdom’s clubs will tip off on August 15, the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) announced yesterday.
The men’s competition offers more than $8,000 in total prize money, and it is to be held as part of the BBA’s efforts to promote the 3x3 game and expand its player base in the kingdom.
The league will feature six preliminary rounds, followed by the grand finale on September 25.
The BBA stressed the need for each club to participate with at least one team in the league while allowing them to register a maximum of two. This ensures the presence of all clubs and contributes to building a strong and sustainable base for 3x3 basketball at the local level.
Following the opener, round two will be held on August 22, followed by the third round on August 28. Round four is then slated for September 4 and round five on September 11, to be followed by the sixth round on September 18, which will set the stage for the title-decider the following week.
League regulations stipulate that each team is allowed to register six players, four of whom can compete in a single round. Players must be born in 2005 or earlier to be eligible to compete, while one foreign-born player is allocated for each team.
BBA competitions committee chairman Hassan Yaseen said that holding the second edition of the Bahrain 3x3 Basketball League comes as an extension of the steps taken by the BBA to enhance the status of 3x3 basketball and consolidate its presence within club competitions.
“The league is not limited to competing for the title and financial prizes, but represents an integrated project to provide regular playing opportunities, raise the technical level of clubs, and promote the spread of 3x3 basketball, in line with the great development that the game is witnessing at the regional and international levels,” Yaseen highlighted.
The overall champions and runners-up emerging from the final round will have the opportunity to participate in international, Arab or Gulf tournaments, the BBA noted.
Samaheej A were the winners of the inaugural edition of the Bahrain 3x3 Basketball League last season.
The league follows a series of Bahrain Summer Tour 2026 events held over the past few weeks, including Lite Quest and Quest competitions to qualify for top-tier tournaments on the Fiba 3x3 World Tour 2026. The summer tour will be hosting its finale on Friday as part of Sports City 26 at Exhibition World Bahrain.
