The Works Ministry has opened Boulevard Road in the Al Raffa area to traffic as part of its ongoing efforts to develop the road network and improve traffic flow in the area.
The project adds a new route to the road network. Boulevard Road consists of two lanes in each direction and extends for approximately 2.5km, linking Zallaq Avenue with Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway.
As part of the associated development works, a U-turn road approximately 1.3-km-long was previously constructed on Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway at its intersection with Zallaq Avenue.
The road is designed to improve traffic flow and facilitate access to surrounding areas and services by reducing detour distances, easing pressure on intersections along Zallaq Avenue and improving overall traffic movement.
The works also included widening the right-turn lane from Zallaq Avenue onto Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway to two lanes, increasing capacity and improving traffic flow at the junction.
The projects will enhance traffic flow in Al Raffa, which is experiencing continued urban development and an expansion of various projects and facilities, including educational and service facilities.
This growth has increased the need to develop and improve the road network in line with the rising number of road users, facilitate access to surrounding areas and facilities, and support both current and future traffic demand.
The opening of Boulevard Road is part of the Works Ministry’s continuing efforts to develop road infrastructure and improve the efficiency of the transport network in line with urban and economic development in the area.
The projects are intended to meet both current and future needs and provide more efficient road services for users.
