A 59-year-old woman has been arrested in Kozhikode, Kerala, after allegedly defrauding 51 job seekers with fake employment offers in Oman.
Identified as Latha Sunil, she allegedly collected between Rs65,000 (BD295) and Rs75,000 (BD340) from applicants for visa processing and administrative fees.
Sunil promised candidates monthly salaries of Rs75,000 at a firm supposedly preparing to launch operations in Oman.
Police launched an investigation after receiving complaints from 21 victims, but found the suspect's registered address had been abandoned for nearly a decade.
Having fled to Oman shortly after the cases were lodged, Sunil was apprehended by officers upon her arrival at Calicut International Airport in Karipur.
