Sixty secondary school students from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait took part in a five-day medical summer camp aimed at introducing them to university life and the medical field.
Organised by the Arabian Gulf University, the camp featured lectures, orientation and guidance sessions, in addition to presentations on admission and application requirements for the College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Students also attended sessions on basic medical sciences, academic and communication skills, as well as laboratory and clinical skills training, giving them hands-on experience of medical studies.
A tour of the university-affiliated teaching hospital was also included, where students were introduced to the clinical environment and gained insight into the role of hospitals in training future doctors.
The programme was led by academics and specialists from various medical fields, giving participants an introduction to the subjects that form the foundation of medical education.
“Through this experience, we seek to inspire a passion for knowledge and equip students with the confidence and awareness they need to shape their academic and professional futures with clarity, making the camp a first step towards nurturing a generation of ambitious medical professionals capable of serving their communities,” said College of Medicine and Health Sciences Dean Professor Dr Mohammed Madadin said in a statement.
