Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday received Malaysian Ambassador Dato’ Shazryll Zahiran, at Gudaibiya Palace.
HRH the Deputy King affirmed that Malaysia’s hosting of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, with the blessings of His Majesty King Hamad and Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, reflects the close and longstanding relations between the two countries.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Sultan Ibrahim for graciously extending his blessing for Malaysia to host the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix Formula One race.
He also thanked Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for his support and co-operation in holding the race in Malaysia.
HRH the Deputy king also thanked the Formula 1, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), Bahrain International Circuit, Sepang International Circuit, and the participating teams for their support and in ensuring the successful transition of the race.
He highlighted the importance of continuing to build on co-operation to further expand opportunities that advance mutual interests.
During the meeting, the latest regional and international developments and issues of common interest were also discussed.
For his part, Ambassador Zahiran expressed his appreciation for HRH the Deputy King’s unwavering commitment to strengthening Bahrain-Malaysia relations, to benefit both countries and their peoples. He further wished Bahrain continued progress and prosperity.
Several senior officials also attended the meeting.
