A group of artists in Bahrain is set to stage a live painting event today, creating vibrant pieces while interacting with enthusiasts from the community.
Bahrain Art Collective will launch the event at the Bahrain Artistic Frames Centre in Budaiya in the presence of Dilruba Akhter and Aysha Rais, the Bangladesh Ambassador’s wife and daughter, respectively. The session is entitled ‘Where Art Happens Live: The Canvas Breathes in Front of You’ and will also bring together art connoisseurs across the kingdom.
In keeping with the cosmopolitan nature of the local community, the participating artists will include Bahrainis and expatriates, who will showcase their talents. Among them is event curator and Bahrain Art Collective founder Sudeep Deshpande.
“A painting on the wall is a result but a painting created in front of you is a conversation,” Mr Deshpande told the GDN.
“A live art session strips away the walls of the private studio and places the artist, the canvas, and the creative process directly in front of the audience. What the audience sees is raw, real and unrepeatable,” added the architect from Adliya.
The initiative aims to uphold originality in a world where digital screens and AI-generated images dominate the creative space.
“Watching a human hand move, decide and create becomes a powerful act of authenticity,” Mr Deshpande added.
Echoing his sentiments, Bahraini talent Thamer Al Reefy noted that live art sessions involve spontaneity and interaction, which fascinates and encourages him to respond intuitively and embrace the unexpected.
“I look forward to this event as an opportunity to share and exchange that experience with fellow artists, explore new ideas, and let the energy of the surroundings influence my work. Events like this are important in bringing art closer to the community and deepening appreciation of the creative process,” explained the 68-year-old from Saar.
The event will run until 2pm and is open to the public.
Participating artists are Aditi Patel, Anju Kapoor, Anurag Sharma, Arti Agarwal, Carmen Salva Del Corral, Samar Gabriel, Meghna, Nimesh Prakash, Sajni Vaidya, Sameena Shaikh, Sangeeta Kothari, Sneha Raj, Mohamed Taha and Sudeep Deshpande.
