The General Directorate of Civil Defence urged the public to follow instructions issued through media and social media platforms as thunderstorms are forecast in several Saudi regions from Friday through Tuesday.
The directorate urged residents to exercise caution, remain in safe places, stay away from areas where floodwater may accumulate and from valleys, and avoid swimming in them.
Mecca region is forecast to see moderate to heavy rain, with runoff, hail and downdraft winds stirring up dust and sand, according to the directorate.
Riyadh is also forecast to receive light to moderate rain, with runoff, hail and dust- and sand-raising downdraft winds.
Jazan, Aseer, Al-Baha and Najran are expected to see moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by runoff, hail and downdraft winds that may stir up dust and sand.
Light to moderate rain is forecast for Madinah and Eastern Region.
