Panic erupted in Maharashtra after chlorine gas began leaking from a 900kg cylinder at a water treatment plant in Nagpur early this morning.
The leak caused several nearby residents to suffer severe coughing and breathing difficulties. While many sought medical care on their own, others were transported to hospital by emergency services.
Authorities advised residents living within a 200-metre radius to evacuate as emergency teams worked to neutralise the leak.
