Prophet Mohammed’s birthday today is an opportunity to reflect on his life and its lessons of guidance, self development, upholding justice and promoting good character, His Majesty King Hamad has said.
In an address to mark the occasion, the King said that the Prophet’s life reflected Islam’s values of tolerance and mercy, and its call for peace, coexistence and solidarity.
His Majesty highlighted that the birth of the Prophet heralded a new era in human history, opening new horizons of faith, knowledge and good deeds.
Commemorating the occasion should go beyond recalling the Prophet’s life and should include reflecting values and morals drawn from it in daily conduct and drawing on his character as an exemplary model for relations with others.
His Majesty noted that the Prophet’s message emphasised building communities based on justice and compassion, while preserving human unity.
He said that, amid growing challenges and rapid change, the life of the Prophet remains as an enduring source of guidance.
It provided lessons in overcoming division through unity, promoting moderation, and rejecting hatred through mercy and compassion, the King said.
These values should guide efforts to serve the nation, advance reform and contribute to Bahrain’s progress and prosperity.
His Majesty stressed the importance of protecting countries and communities from conflict and division, and of recognising the importance of exercising responsibility in public discourse in a manner that safeguards security and unity.
He added this approach would contribute to consolidating peace and trust among members of the same national community.
The kingdom’s approach was based on promoting love and peace, noting that the people of Bahrain are bearers of this legacy and its values and principles, the King said.
His Majesty added that they continued to demonstrate kindness and good character, uphold national unity and fraternity, and contribute to the kingdom’s prosperity and development.
He expressed hope that the occasion would provide a renewed opportunity to honour the Prophet’s guidance and follow his example and teachings, and wished Bahrain and the Muslim world continued goodness, peace and tranquility.
