His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today met with GCC secretary-general Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, at Riffa Palace.
HRH Prince Salman affirmed that Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad, remains steadfast in its support for the continued advancement of the GCC and its joint action. This reflects the kingdom's deep-rooted belief in the importance of unity amongst the Gulf states and its commitment to strengthening co-ordination and co-operation among GCC member states.
HRH Prince Salman emphasised the importance of creating opportunities that advance greater integration within the council, in line with the visions and aspirations of GCC leaders.
He was briefed by Mr Al Budaiwi on the progress made in implementing the directives and decisions issued by the GCC leaders during the Extraordinary Consultative Gulf Summit of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council, held in April.
HRH Prince Salman highlighted the deep-rooted and longstanding relationship between Bahrain and all GCC member states. He directed the secretary-general to ensure the Council achieves the visions and aspirations of GCC leaders, to contribute to furthering joint Gulf action in support of regional security, stability, and peace, enhancing the GCC states' regional and international presence and advancing development and progress in line with the aspirations of the citizens and residents of the GCC, creating a prosperous future for all.
HRH Prince Salman commended the solidarity demonstrated by GCC member states in addressing various issues, commending the efforts of the GCC General Secretariat in advancing multilateral action and supporting greater integration and co-operation.
The meeting also included discussions on topics of shared interest aimed at furthering the progress of the GCC.
For his part, the secretary-general expressed his gratitude to HRH Prince Salman for his steadfast commitment to strengthening GCC co-operation to achieve common goals and aspirations.
Prime Minister's Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and several senior officials also attended the meeting.
