The Indian community is mourning the death of a three-year-old Keralite boy, who died yesterday following a bathroom accident.
Onam festivities turned tragic after Dhyan Surya died yesterday morning, three days after he fell in the bathtub at home.
According to a friend of the family, the young boy was in critical condition at Salmaniya Medical Complex for three days after the fall.
He had arrived in Bahrain last week to celebrate Onam with his mother, Megha Joseph, an active member of Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam.
After the traditional Onam feast, the mother and son went home. The boy took a nap while his mother was working in the kitchen.
He then woke up and went to the bathroom and was playing in the bathtub when he slipped and fell.
When the mother found him, she called a doctor residing in the same building who tried to administer CPR.
Sources told the GDN that an emergency call was made on August 27 and the boy was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
He died yesterday after his condition did not improve.
His mother runs a beauty salon and has lived in Bahrain for more than six years.
Dhyan had been living with his grandparents in Kottayam, Kerala, prior to his trip to Bahrain.
The boy’s parents are separated and his father lives in India.
Arrangements are being made to send his body back to India. He is expected to be taken back today.
