The Foreign Ministry expressed Bahrain’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the renewed Iranian attacks that violated the airspace of Jordan with a number of ballistic missiles, in flagrant violation of its sovereignty, and a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability, in contravention of the rules of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, Security Council Resolution No (2817), and the principles of good neighbourliness.
The ministry affirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with Jordan, and its complete support for the measures it is taking to preserve its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, commending the Jordanian Armed Forces’ efforts in intercepting the missiles and confronting these heinous attacks.
The Foreign Ministry reiterated Bahrain’s call to the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities and take urgent and decisive measures to compel Iran to comply with the rules of international law and the UN Charter, to cease its aggressive actions that threaten the security and stability of the region, and to respect freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and other vital waterways, in order to contribute to reducing escalation and tension and maintaining regional security and peace.
GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi has strongly condemned the Iranian aggression against the UAE involving a drone, which was intercepted by air defence systems over the UAE’s territorial waters.
He affirmed that the attack constitutes a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of the UAE’s sovereignty, security and stability, as well as a direct threat to the safety of citizens and residents.
In a statement issued yesterday, Albudaiwi stressed that GCC countries stand united alongside the UAE in confronting anything that threatens its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He also called on Iran to immediately halt such attacks and hostile acts and to bear full responsibility for their repercussions, which could undermine the security and stability of the region.
The UAE’s Foreign Ministry said the attacks ‘constituted a dangerous escalation, an unacceptable act of aggression, and a direct threat to the UAE’s security, stability, and territorial integrity, in violation of the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.’
The UAE emphasised that it would not tolerate any threat to its security and sovereignty.
It said it reserved the right to respond to these attacks in a manner that ensured the protection of its sovereignty, national security, territorial integrity and the safety of its citizens, residents and visitors, in accordance with international law.
