Members of the public in Qatar gathered on Friday to attend the funeral prayers and burial of a Canadian professor who died in Doha with no immediate family present in the country.
Dr Lorne David Booker, who taught business and finance at the University of Doha for Science and Technology, had embraced Islam and moved to Qatar from Canada several years ago, local media reported.

Hundreds of mourners arrived at Mesaimeer Cemetery following a notice circulated on community groups inviting the public to his funeral, as he had no relatives nearby.
Dr Booker was remembered by colleagues and students as deeply passionate about his faith and committed to community service.
