Bahrain had a rousing start yesterday to their title-defence in the 24th Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship, which got underway in Amman, Jordan.
The kingdom’s senior men’s volleyball national team outclassed their counterparts from Kuwait 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-17) for a positive start to the six-nation tournament, which is being played in league format.
The Bahrainis also welcomed the return to action of superstar outside hitter Mohammed Yaqoob, who was making his return from injury.
The Bahrainis now have two days of rest and are back in action on Friday at 6pm against hosts Jordan. The nationals then face Saudi on Saturday at 4pm before going up against Algeria on Tuesday next week, also at 4pm. The Bahrainis wrap up their repeat title bid the following evening at 6pm on the concluding day of action. All times are Bahrain.
