The government of Türkiye has officially imposed a ban on social media platform access for children under the age of 15, effective November 1.
The move follows the Turkish Parliament's approval of the legislation earlier this year.
Under the new law, social media companies must implement technical and administrative measures, including age verification systems, to ensure compliance.
The verification process will utilise a government-issued token, as outlined in Article 7 of the legislation.
The law also extends to minors over 15, prohibiting platforms from offering services or features deemed to have an 'addictive effect'.
