THE National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and Bahrain Network (BNET) have signed a co-operation agreement to conduct a joint study aimed at supporting and facilitating the implementation of cybersecurity controls in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Bahrain.
The agreement forms part of national efforts to strengthen digital protection, help businesses address cyber risks and threats, ensure business continuity and support growth in a safe and sustainable digital environment.
Under the agreement, the NCSC will provide the cybersecurity controls it has developed for SMEs. These set out practical, essential requirements to protect their systems, information, users and operations from cyber risks and threats, while taking into account differences in business size, operational needs and available resources.
BNET will contribute to the technical and practical aspects of the study, using its advanced infrastructure and capabilities to develop practical, scalable technical solutions that make it easier for SMEs to adopt and comply with security requirements without placing undue strain on their resources.
NCSC chief executive officer Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said the partnership would combine national expertise with BNET’s infrastructure and technical capabilities to develop practical, sustainable solutions that help SMEs implement cybersecurity controls and standards, strengthen their readiness, protect their operations and ensure business continuity. This would also enhance cybersecurity across the kingdom.
For his part, BNET’s CEO Ahmed Jaber Al Doseri highlighted the centre’s role as the first line of defence against cyber threats and emphasised BNET’s commitment to using its national infrastructure and expertise to develop practical solutions that make it easier for SMEs to implement security controls.
The agreement reflects the centre’s approach to working with service providers and infrastructure operators in the kingdom. Both parties emphasised the importance of continued co-ordination and joint efforts to launch national initiatives that support an integrated cybersecurity ecosystem and protect the national digital economy.
