BOWLING – RIFFA and Bahrain Club set up a mouth-watering title showdown in the Bahrain Bowling Federation (BBF) Cup 2026, currently being played at Funland Centre’s lanes.
Both teams secured their place in the championship decider with resounding wins in the last four.
Riffa, who had already been crowned the Bahrain Bowling League 2026 title winners earlier this season, outclassed their opponents from Busaiteen 2,380-2,152 to keep their aspirations alive for a sensational double crown.
Bahrain Club, on the other hand, defeated Al Hala 2,301-2,228 to march through. They had finished as league runners-up last August but this time will be aiming to upset their heavily favoured rivals when they go head-to-head one more time this coming Sunday in the BBF Cup 2026’s finale.
In Riffa’s semis win against Busaiteen, they took all three games as they lived up to their tag as the team to beat in the annual knockout tournament, which kicked off with all eight of the BBF’s member clubs.
They won game one 770-738 before taking game two in more dominant fashion 852-717. They then wrapped up the clash with a 758-697 triumph in game three.
JM Villanueva was Riffa’s top performer with the round’s high series of 676 pins, which came from games of 206, a best of 279, and 191. Ali Almass and Fawaz Abdulla also had fine outings, contributing 601 and 600 totals, respectively, while Ahmed Algoud completed their charge with a 503 score.
Abdulrahman Alali was Busaiteen’s leading scorer with 581 pins. Francis Medios chipped in with a 562 total and Mohammed Al Shawoosh scored 510, while Yasser Al Khan had a 499 series in their loss.
In the other final four contest, Bahrain Club won two of the three games – enough to send them through to the championship affair.
They got things off with an impressive 837-760 in game one and then battled hard to take game two 724-690. But Hala were then able to salvage some pride by taking the third game 778-740.
Ahmed Fareed spearheaded Bahrain Club’s outing with a 616 series, while his teammates did well to complete their consistent showing in the match. Abdulla Abdulkarim had a 596 total, Khaled Sameer posted a 561, and Aqeel Alawadhi took down 528 pins.
Hala had two players score over 600 in their clash – with Ayoob Hassan’s 635 and Waleed Daraj’s 616 – but they were not enough to get them over the hump. Mohammed Bahar added a 508 total while Abdulrahman Bahar scored 469.
