Parliament has unanimously approved a statement condemning continued Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and affirming that the kingdom’s security is inseparable from that of Bahrain and the wider Gulf.
MPs approved the statement during their weekly session yesterday, deputising Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam to issue it on Parliament’s behalf. Mr Al Musallam spearheaded the proposal.
The statement condemned attacks on Saudi civilian, economic and vital infrastructure, describing them as violations of international law and threats to regional stability.
It reaffirmed Bahrain’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security and stability, including its right to self-defence under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
Parliament also backed Bahrain’s call for the UN Security Council to take firm action against Houthi attacks, hold those responsible and their supporters accountable, and ensure the implementation of relevant resolutions.
