WASHINGTON: Bahrain is a great friend of America, US President Donald Trump told the Crown Prince during their meeting at the White House yesterday.
President Trump expressed his honour at hosting His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, at the Oval Office and reaffirmed the long and excellent relationship between the US and Bahrain.
The Crown Prince highlighted the long-standing ties between Bahrain and the US, which are based on trust, mutual respect, and shared principles and values.
Tribute
The President thanked him for the recent commercial agreements with Bahrain, which he said were greatly appreciated by the US and were a tribute to the relationship with the kingdom.
The Crown Prince spoke about the strength of defence relations between the two countries over the past 70 years. He reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment as a consistent and unwavering military partner to the US and as host to the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet.
The Crown Prince and the President noted that the extension to the US-Bahrain Defence Co-operation Agreement signals a new phase in America’s oldest and strongest partnership in the region.
