THE other day I visited the Adliya Post Office.
When I went to the token dispensing machine, I was pleasantly surprised to see a category for “Senior citizens/disabled”.
I could not believe my eyes. At least for me this was the first time I had come across something like this in Bahrain.
I opted for the senior citizens category and took a token with a four-digit number.
Looking up at the display, I saw all the three counters were attending to customers holding three-digit numbers.
I thought my token number would come up soon, but after some time I realised that at least five to six people who had come after me had been attended to while I was left standing, waiting.
Seeing this, my child walked up to the token dispensing machine and got an ordinary one with a three-digit number. In a matter of seconds, our number was called.
Within 10 minutes my business was done and as I was leaving I checked and saw all three counters were still attending to customers holding three-digit token numbers.
When I next visit the post office, I must remember not to opt for the senior citizens category!
