MANAMA: Bahrain Bourse (BHB) has kicked off the Capital Markets Apprenticeship Programme.
The six-month programme aims to bridge the gap between educational and practical aspects, where selected individuals will be working as full-time interns at BHB and Bahrain Clear, benefiting from advanced training in trading skills, research methods and capital market financial analysis.
Commenting, Bahrain Bourse chief executive Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said: “This comes in line with our belief in the importance of enhancing and spreading financial awareness to reach the largest possible number of beneficiaries across a wider segment of society. It also complements the bourse’s other initiatives like Smart Investor, TradeQuest, and the Investment Academy, by providing youth the opportunity to gain practical experience in the workplace.”
He added that the programme targets Bahrainis holding a bachelor’s degree or higher and aims to develop and enhance the skills of national youth in the capital markets sector.
During the programme’s tenure, the interns will undergo job rotation across different core functions within BHB and Bahrain Clear, gaining full exposure to bourse and clearing house operations and obtaining a diversified understanding of the Bahraini market in particular, and capital markets in general.
It will also equip interns with a set of skills required to occupy high-level employment opportunities in the capital market.
Individuals who meet the criteria can apply for entry into the programme through www.bahrainbourse.com.
The BHB announcement follows directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince Prime Minister, in launching the second edition of the National Employment Programme.
