MANAMA: The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has set up a hotline to report employers demanding money from workers.
The move comes after recent reports that certain employers have been seeking money from expatriate workers who wish to take up new jobs in the country.
“Such practices, if they occur, violate regulations, especially the LMRA Law and its rules,” the Anti-Human Trafficking and General Morals Protection of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science said, in a statement.
“Legal proceedings are being taken in this regard in co-ordination with the LMRA to promote the stability of the labour market and protect the national economy.”
Such cases can be reported by calling 17710652.
