CONTACT tracing over the past week revealed that most of the cases were work-related.
The average number of cases per day fell to 84, compared to 101 the previous week.
According to the Health Ministry’s weekly contract tracing update released last night, a 41-year-old male expatriate (cluster no. 263231) who tested positive through random community screening was linked to a cluster of 10 Covid-19 cases which were all work-related and lived in the same accommodation unit.
The report also highlighted the case of a 29-year-old male expat (no. 266003) who infected seven individuals who all worked in the same company and lived across three different accommodations.
Meanwhile, a 41-year-old symptomatic male expat (no. 266598) was found to have infected seven individuals at his workplace and the cases lived across four different accommodation units.
The ministry also reported that a symptomatic 63-year-old Bahraini male citizen (no. 265529) revealed six positive cases.
“The cases are all family-related and live in the same household, and include the index case’s wife, children and grandchildren,” the ministry said.
A symptomatic 19-year-old Bahraini woman (no. 267040) was linked to a cluster of seven cases from two different households.
“The cases include the index case’s siblings, niece, nephew and other relatives,” added the ministry.
Of the cases identified between July 15 and 21, 142 were due to close contact, 143 tested positive after developing symptoms, 182 cases were identified during random testing and 45 tested positive after completing their quarantine.
A total of 587 positive cases were identified, 247 of whom were Bahrainis, and the rest expatriates.
A total of 512 were local cases of transmission and 75 were travellers.
