Malkiya and Bahrain Club got off to winning starts as the 2021-22 Bahrain Second Division Football League kicked off last night.
At Hamad Town Stadium, 2019-20 champions Malkiya held off Isa Town 2-1 with the held of goals by Emmanuel and Igor. Ali Khalifa helped Isa Town reduce the margin.
Meanwhile, at Al Ahli Club Stadium in Zinj, Bahrain Club registered a 3-0 victory over Busaiteen, who were relegated from the Premier League last season. Yasser Mohammed, Wadah Mahmoud and Khalid Radi scored for the winners.
The first round continues today when three matches will kick off at 6.30pm. Al Shabab take on Al Ittihad at Riffa Club Stadium, Al Tadhamun face Al Ittifaq at Al Ahli Club Stadium and Galali clash with Sitra at Isa Town Stadium.
