How can we convince people to keep our beaches clean?
By who cleaning the beach; for every 10kg trash they get BD10.
@xalix97
Fine them into oblivion.
@srirajt
This compromise is difficult for people and perhaps even children. My advice is to place a bin every 10 metres of walking distance on the beach with the words in bold: Please, use your brain – kindly don’t throw your crap on the clean beach.
@syedasamia
Government should impose a fine for littering.
@demes_elena
Penalties, dustbins and also notice boards.
@rajmohan_sundarrajan
Convince and educate the children, the parents will follow suit. And, give them an incentive for their future education. They are the future leaders, appoint them to convey this message to the adults.
@tumxx_wahab
FINES! It’s unbelievable how unconscious citizens are, not only when at the beach, but everywhere.
@i.o.a._n.a
Educating them and holding short talks by volunteers on beaches about how to keep it clean.
@mirsuleiman
Imposing fines.
@axaa006
There should be fines for not following the rules.
@dhanak329
In my opinion, start at home and in school. Especially in schools, there should be a separate special subject on sustainability and climate change. The children like to share their knowledge and experience with their own age groups and it would be fun for them and, at the same time, motivation.
@jessynahid
Education, fines, guards, CCTVs.
@vfmontes
Law, law and law. CCTVs everywhere and huge penalties for littering.
@agron.demiraj
Fine them BD1,000 with 10 years jail.
@harman_jsk
First teach them not to throw trash on the roads and in the city by imposing fines and giving prizes to people who record and report this action to police.
@h0pe365
Fine them and place warning signs.
@alsada.hashem
We can tell them that you would be helping animals and you would be doing something good. We can also put up flyers and spread the word around schools and colleges so people know when they go to the beach they will know what to do and what not to do.
By also sharing posts or stories of flyers on social media, so that people who might want to join can help us out by cleaning the beach.
Use of good slogans such as ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’; ‘Be a wise man, ocean is not a garbage can’.
We can also convince people by giving out prizes to those who participate to help keep the beaches clean. Oceans are getting sicker, let’s do something quicker.
@46_salman_madni
Monitor them by camera in order to have evidence of the violations. After that, issue a ticket.
@yas95ser
Include subjects/drills on environmental conservation and agriculture at primary to secondary school level.
@viveks173
Appoint a security guard (watchman) and issue on-the-spot penalties of BD20-50. Without fines people will never change.
@lama.official2015
I have seen some people throw waste on the beach even if there is a dustbin near them.
@ahmad_.butt1
Not just beaches but their surroundings as a whole. Cleanliness shouldn’t be such a hard lesson for people to learn; it begins at home anyway.
Teach them to pick up and show them where things are to be put.
I don’t see why it is so hard to put garbage where it belongs? Common sense and civic awareness would tell me garbage doesn’t belong on the beach, on the street or thrown through a window while I’m driving.
It’s going to need a total re-education and the realisation that Bahrain is too small to be kept this dirty.
@dewaynebowen
The government should also look at training environmental wardens, sanitation wardens, municipal officers, whatever they want to call them. Since people say they need jobs, this would be a good way of employing them.
Train them and post them all over Bahrain and have them monitor the way people and businesses dispose of garbage.
Those who are guilty should be hit where it hurts, in their pockets. Fine them BD50 upwards, depending on the nature of the offence. Also, give them community service too.
People will learn when they know penalties are applied.
@dewaynebowen
Empathy, campaigns, awareness events, make it a responsibility of every citizen to be a part of the initiative! Education for this at every level.
@ankitdhingraa
Fines are the best solution even in city and roads not only the beaches. The government should launch an online service where people can take photos and file complaints through that app or website. It’s the best solution and people will start to behave.
@e7s4n
A boundary entry fee should be applicable. This only happens because at beaches where the entry is free.
@imam_bakhsh_albaloshi
By the way, I have noticed that there are a lot of rats everywhere.
@chachlarage
Simply and easily remove their citizenships. Those who aren’t an asset for their country don’t deserve to be a part of one.
